Ceramic

The most common material used for hair tools is ceramic. It’s also important to note that individuals with thicker & coarse hair can still use ceramic, however, it may be a slower process to achieve the results desired.

Titanium

Titanium is a material that is preferred by most professionals, as it creates long-lasting curls. This material heats up quickly and can reach high temperatures. Similar to ceramic materials, the negative ions smooth hair follicles reducing frizz and increasing shine. Titanium is known to be more damaging to your hair, especially if you don’t use heat protection and are using it daily. This material is prone to cold spots and unexpected drops in temperature which could lead to uneven curls, resulting in re-curling the hair, which can be more damaging. Titanium is best for those that have thick, coarse and textured hair types.

1. How much time do you have to get ready in the morning?
   If you are pressed for time, titanium may be a better option as it heats up quickly, compared to ceramic tools. 
2. Will you be styling your hair every day? Every other day? How often do you plan on using the hair tool?
   If so, you may opt for ceramic as it’s gentler for your hair resulting in less damage both short term and long term!
3. What is your hair type?
   If you have finer, damaged or chemically treated hair ceramic tools would be better for your hair. If you have thick, coarse or textured hair then titanium would be a better option as it will heat your hair quicker and more efficiently. 
4. What is your budget?
   Typically, ceramic can be more affordable compared to titanium.
