At Home Hair Treatments to Try this Winter!

The winter season can be tough on our poor, once lustrous hair! To help you get back to that glowing summer hair, we’ve curated a list of DIY treatments that are easy & budget friendly! Keep reading to see just how effortless they are.

  1. Dry or Damaged Hair

The colder weather can cause hair to become dehydrated and damaged. When your conditioner is just not cutting it anymore try opting for an overnight mask for that added moisture your hair is in need of! This mask only contains one ingredient which makes it so easy and practical.
.
First step is to find the right oil for your hair type! We recommend coconut oil for very dehydrated/ thick hair. If you have thinner hair try avocado oil! It’s lighter and won’t weight down your locks.
.
Then all you need to do is warm the oil up slightly (15-30 seconds in the microwave should do) and message into damp hair! Focus the oil on the most damaged or dehydrated parts of your hair, typically this would be from the middle of your hair to the ends. You can leave the oil in overnight for best results.
.
Pop on a shower cap while you sleep to prevent the oil from staining your pillowcase and you’re done! Shampoo out in the morning followed by your favourite conditioner and notice how silky smooth your locks are instantly!
  1. Dull or Lacklustre Hair

When our hair starts feeling dull or like it's become lacklustre you can use this treatment to lock in shine! Usually the dullness you’re seeing in your hair comes from product or residue build up. This just means that you need to clarify, but don’t worry we have an easy fix for you!
.
All you’ll need for this treatment is apple cider vinegar! Use 1 tbs of apple cider vinegar to 1/2 a cup of water. Pour this mixture over damp hair and comb through. After 5 minutes rinse with cool water and follow up with conditioner.
.
Apple cider vinegar helps to remove any buildup and seal the cuticle to lock in shine!
  1. Brittle Hair

Our next hair fix is for brittle hair! This mask is designed to help prevent breakage. All you’ll need for this recipe is some eggs and a bit of lemon juice!

First crack a few eggs into a bowl (1-2 for short/mid length and 2-3 for long hair) and add a tsp of lemon juice, this will help cut that egg smell! Apply to hair from mid to ends and leave on for 30 minutes to 1 hour for best results. Shampoo out and follow up with your favourite conditioner!
.
Say hello to your newly strengthened and nourished hair. Best of all, this treatment can even increase hair growth!
The winter season can be hard on our hair so make sure to take extra care of it during these colder months of the year because trust us, your hair will thank you!
